OUR JUNE DANCE WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!!!!!!
There was a great turnout for our summer themed dance on Saturday night, June 18, 2015. A special thanks to all who brought goodies to share. The chicken salad sandwiches were superb, the fried rice, pecan pie, cheesecake, and the list goes on...what a spread! Let's keep up the tradition...it adds so much to the flavor (pun intended!) of the dance. Local independent dance instructor, Mario Lett, led a West Coast Swing lesson. Thanks so much for your energetic and informative presentation, Mario. Kudos, also, to our chapter's treasurer, Vickie Cason, for her great music selection. There can't be a good dance without good music! Can't wait for next month's dance...details to follow in a later post.
IMPORTANT CHAPTER UPDATES...
*** Yang Chen, the National President of USA Dance, has informed us of a $10 increase for Social Dance Members, effective with renewals and new member applications, beginning July 1, 2015. This means the current $25 membership fee will be $35 starting July 1st. So if you're thinking of joining or renewing your membership, do it before the end of June.
*** Board member, Randy Cooke, has renewed the “Calling Post” and will be calling USA Dance members and friends without email addresses to keep them informed of upcoming events. Please let him know if you're having problems with your email and would like to receive a phone call.
+++ If anyone would like to share some pictures of our dancing, please contact Norma Holder, Rudy Brostrom and/or Bobby Bishop.
*** Every week, our President, Rudy Brostrom, sends out over 170 emails to our USA Dance members and friends to keep them informed of our third Saturday monthly dances and Friday night American Legion Post 63 dances that provide a lesson prior to each dance. Just think of the impact on potential members and visitors if each of us would pass along this information to family and friends. This is a great way to build our membership and increase our community dance fellowship. Give it a try and let’s make our USA Dance Chapter 6074 the best it can be. This is where some of our greatest memories will take place.
*** June’s Friday's dance classes at the American Legion, Post 63 on Milledge Rd. run from 7:00 to 7:45 and will focus on Disco/Merengue/Hustle and Line Dances. July will focus on the Rumba and August on the Waltz. This is a great deal because lessons are included in the American Legion's $10 every Friday night dance entry fee.
*** The Board of Directors is still searching for volunteers to help out by assisting in several areas. Please donate a few hours and assist in areas of: set-up, clean-up, greeting, membership, social work, advertising; etc.***Something new: you will receive a copy of all the music to be played at each dance. - the song's name, and the genre. That way you will know ahead what's next on the playlist.
