MISSION STATEMENT OF USA DANCE CHAPTER 6074
As a chapter of USA Dance, it is our mission to improve the quantity and quality of ballroom dancing in the Central Savannah River Area. We strive to provide a common bond in the dance community by supporting all professional studios as well as amateur dance organizations in their efforts to develop ballroom dancing.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR:
Bob Anzuoni President of USA Dance Chapter presented an award to John White at our First Saturday night dance 4 January 2014.
John was selected as the outstanding Volunteer of the year for USA Dance Chapter #6074. He has given so much of his time and talent to the Chapter. Congratulation to John from the Chapter members.

Congratulations to our volunteer of the month for January 2014, Paulette Harris, who handled the Silent Auction at our December fundraiser.

Dear Members and Friends,
Thank you to all who supported our First Saturday Red, White, and Blue Ice Cream Social Dance in July. I appreciate all the volunteers who decorated, collected admission, prepared the music, brought food and toppings, and assisted with clean up.
As always, I thank all of our members and friends for making USA Dance Greater Augusta Chapter a great place to be!
1st Saturday Dance:
Saturday August 2 will be our next dance -- It’s a Luau! People are encouraged to wear Hawaiian style shirts (no grass skirts, please). Bring Polynesian/Asian-Pacific dishes or other food and drinks to share.
Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for social time. We will begin with a free thirty-minute Salsa lesson at 8:00 p.m. and general dancing until 11:00 p.m. Admission is $8 for members; $10 for non-members; and $5 for military. Location: American Legion Post 63, Milledge Road, Augusta, GA.
Thursday Evening Lessons:
We will conclude our series of East Coast Swing and Foxtrot lessons on Thursday July 31. We will begin our monthly series of lessons with Salsa and Cha Cha on Thursday August 7. Lessons begin at 6:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 63. Cost is $5per person for both lessons.

Ballroom Dance Center, located on Grand Slam Dr., the Every Friday Night
Dance starts at 8:00 p.m. with a thirty-minute lesson. Admission is $10.
August 1st: We can't tell you what the surprise is quite yet, but we know you'll
be as excited over it as we are. Come dressed in a fun outfit, plus one
accessory for this special Every Friday Dance. Do you have a boa you can
wear? Perfect! What about a crazy tie someone gave you? Wear it! Do you
have a totally outrageous hat? Put it on! Just don't wear anything green this
Friday night. There will be fun and dancing all evening in both ballrooms, but
you can't be a part of the surprise unless YOU JOIN US at 8 p.m. August 1!

8:00p.m. Admission is $10.
Disabled American Veterans #43, located on Highway 1, Aiken, SC, weekly
Friday dance starts at 7:30 p.m. Live band – Yesterday’s Sounds. Cost is $6.
They WILL have a dance July 4 with food. Feel free to bring a dish.
Augusta Latin Nights, located at the Ramada Hotel on Broad Street, starts at
9:30 p.m. with a Salsa lesson and goes until 3:00 a.m.! Admission is $10.

Ballroom in Motion, located at the Elks Lodge, doors open at 7:30 p.m. Starts
at 8:00 p.m. with a free thirty-minute lesson. Admission: $10.00

Salsa Dance starts at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $10.
A&E Dance Studio, located on Pendleton St. in Aiken, Fourth Saturday Dance
starts at 8:00 p.m. with a free thirty-minute lesson. Admission is $10.
Augusta Christian Singles Weekly Saturday Dance at the Ballroom Dance
Center in Evans. Free one-hour lesson starts at 6:30p.m.
Admission is $10; $8 for members. You must be single to attend.

Workshop from 2-4 p.m. ($40); Tango Practica from 4-7 p.m. ($10).

President USA Dance Greater Augusta Chapter #6074
The Augusta Dance Challenge and Showcase begins Friday, August 22, at 8:00 p.m. with a fun evening that includes social dancing, student showcase performances and fun Jack and Jills.
Be prepared to be wowed on Saturday, August 23, by the dancers in our one day competition, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Spectator tickets for the day are $25 each and include lunch and our professional student show, Marvelous Mercer. Tickets for the Awards Reception and Dinner are $35 each and also include the show. Purchase a day pass for $60 and enjoy the competition from start to finish.
Would you like to be a competitor?
Amateur and Pro/Am couples are welcome to be a part of the competition. Call the studio for entry information.
On Sunday, August 24, Marina Vlasova, one of our guest judges at the competition will teach two workshops.

Thursday evening August 21 we will continue our series of lessons with East Coast Swing and Foxtrot. Please see the notes below for details and for other dance events this weekend.
USA Dance - Thursday evening group lessons. From 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 63 on Milledge Road. August 's lessons are East Coast Swing and Foxtrot. Cost: $5 per person.
Ballroom Dance Center – Located on Grand Slam Dr., Evans, GA, the Every Friday Night Dance starts at 8:00 p.m. with a thirty-minute lesson. Admission is $10. (See Special Events below.)
American Legion Post 63 – Dance every Friday evening with a live band. Located at Post 63 on Milledge Road. From 8:00 p.m. to11:00 p.m. Cost: $10.

Special Events This Month!
Augusta Swing Dance Social at the Cutno Dance Center located at 3497 Wheeler Road. Saturday August 23. Starts at 7:30 p.m. with an East Coast Swing Lesson. Dancing to swing music (mostly early jazz) from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Cost: $5.00. Light refreshments will be served. Contact: Bionca at (706) 231-4175.
Ballroom Dance Center – Augusta Dance Challenge & Showcase: Friday, Saturday and
Sunday August 22 - 24, 2014. Located at 525 Grand Slam Drive, Evans, GA 30809.
Friday: 8 – 11 pm Smart, casual attire. The event starts with a fun evening including social dancing and Jack and Jills. Saturday: A friendly, in-studio competition with beginner to advanced professional/amateur dancing. Lunch included. Spectators welcome.
9:00 a.m. – Open for registration and practice. 10:00 a.m. – Dance Competition – Ballroom, Rhythm, Standard, Latin, Argentine Tango and West Coast Swing and showcase numbers. A great professional and student show, Marvelous Mercer, will immediately follow The Dance Challenge. Awards Reception and Dinner – The event will conclude in the late afternoon or early evening, allowing our competitors and other guests time to attend the Awards Reception and Dinner. Sunday: Join one of our judges for fabulous fun and informative workshops, offered early so our out-of- town guests can begin their drive home during the early afternoon.
